PREVENT OR DELAY TYPE 2 DIABETES:
Community members are preventing type 2 diabetes together with the PreventT2 lifestyle change program offered by Olivia Hospital & Clinics. Guided by a trained lifestyle coach, groups of participants are learning the skills they need to make lasting changes such as losing a modest amount of weight, being more physically active, and managing stress. People with prediabetes — higher-than-normal blood glucose (sugar) levels — are 5 to 15 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those with normal blood glucose levels. In fact, many people with prediabetes can be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes within 5 years. Participants learn how to eat healthy, add physical activity to their routine, manage stress, stay motivated, and solve problems that can get in the way of healthy changes. The program’s group setting provides a supportive environment with people who are facing similar challenges and trying to make the same changes. Together participants celebrate their successes and find ways to overcome obstacles.

Blood Sugar Monitoring
We will supply and meter and teach blood sugar monitoring at home. We have replacement meters available when your meter expires.
Whether diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes you may or may not require insulin. We provide instruction, education and will help you become comfortable in taking insulin as well as adjusting your insulin dose.
Continuous Glucose Monitoring
With Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), you get a more complete picture of your glucose levels, which can lead to better treatment decisions and better glucose control.
We provide education to women who are pregnant that are diagnosed with gestational diabetes through the length of their pregnancy to control glucose levels including lifestyle changes and medication management.

United Acres: Renville County’s fresh produce farm.
United Acres is a local vegetable farm located behind AgCountry in Olivia, MN. Founded as a non-profit in 2016, the farm aims to increase access to locally grown fruits and vegetables for our households and businesses. This summer, consider purchasing a CSA from United Acres. CSA stands for community-supported agriculture and is a system to connect the producer with consumers through a subscription..
This subscription will provide your household with produce you can use to create fresh, nutrient-dense meals that your whole family will enjoy. One CSA subscription costs $200.00 and provides you with a basket of produce once every two weeks, roughly 7-8 baskets in total. Each basket is packed with produce being harvested that week. Your basket can be picked up on Mondays or Thursdays at the farmer’s market hosted in the giant corn cob.
Call Pat Halbe at 1-800-916-1836 to schedule group tours of the farm space.
