What is cardiac rehab?
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program offered at Olivia Hospital & Clinic to help heart patients recover quickly and improve their overall physical, mental, and social functioning. Cardiac Rehab can reduce your symptoms and chances of having more heart problems.
A physician referral is required to participate in this program. It may be covered by your insurance based on your diagnosis and individual health insurance policy.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday | 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Sample Eligible Diagnoses
Here are some of the diagnoses used for admission:
- Stable Angina
- Stent Placement
- Coronary Bypass Surgery
- Valve Repair/Replacement
- Heart Attack
- Congestive Heart Failure
The safe exercise program is tailored to your ability and comfort. Your heart tracing, blood pressure and weight will be monitored during your sessions.
Our equipment includes a treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike, Nustep bike, weights, and thera bands. Education is geared to controlling risk factors such as high blood pressure, stress, smoking and obesity.
A nutrition evaluation and counseling session with a Registered Dietitian is included in the program.
In addition to an individualized exercise plan, you have access to education and support that address many topics, including:
- Cardiovascular function and recovery process
- Lipid (blood cholesterol)
- Smoking cessation
- Nutrition and weight control
- Stress management and relaxation
- Vocational concerns
- Individual exercise choices
Medicare and most private payers cover Cardiac Rehabilitation. Our insurance staff will be happy to check on your insurance coverage. If you have additional questions regarding your coverage, please contact your insurance carrier.
Our staff is ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) certified and have extensive clinical experience in cardiac rehab.
